Chapter 1 - Gilt Groupe History & Mission Statement


Gilt Groupe is a shopping website that has pioneered the way for off price selling to consumers all around the U.S. They have created a business model that most wholesalers and retailers hate. However, they have taken what is looked down upon with elegance and have created a clean aesthtic to reach to the masses. Gilt Groupe is a memebers base off price E-commerce website. 


The man behind the company is Kevin P. Ryan and started it in 2007. Gilt has truly taken off price selling to the next level by introducing Gilt Women, Gilt Men, Gilt Babys & Kids, Gilt Home, Gilt Food & Wine, Gilt City and Gilt Jetsetter. Gilt now has 8 different divisions under the umbrella including a full price website called ParkandBond.com

There are many department stores in the US that you can go into and buy a shirt, a dress, some jewelry and some home goods. However Gilt has taken it to the next level by making their website a "one stop" shop. I do not know anywhere in the world where you can buy a trip to New York, a shirt, a dinner reservation, kitchen/home goods and food and wine.

Since the launch of Gilt Groupe, there are have been many other business that have copied this business model suchs as Hautelook.com, ruelala.com and etc. However, the shopping experience Gilt has created is what keeps customers coming back time and time again.
